Digital Watercolors

Experimentation in Photoshop Channels

I have been experimenting with digital paintings with Photoshop and other programs for years. I always try to challenge myself with new styles through the experimentation of techniques.

I have always loved the look of watercolor and wanted to combine that look with the precision of digital painting. However, I haven't found watercolor brushes that accurately pull off the watercolor look I've been wanting. So, for this series, I used my knowledge of Alpha Channel separations to create watercolor textures and then to used those textures to manually paint in colors and shapes.

The result was a cool smokey feel while maintaining details in the animals as they blend into their environments. This is a series that I hope to continue with various animals and colors to master my use over Photoshop Spot and Alpha Channels
